Growers Own: Organic Farming Conference

February 21 @ 9:00 AM

After 5 years of sitting fallow, NCAP is bringing back our Grower’s Own Organic Farming Conference, helping farmers get back into community and helping all of us get ‘Back to Our Roots’ (this year’s theme). It will be at The Center on the Canyon County Fairgrounds, a historically agricultural county at a fairgrounds covered in farming fingerprints (like a rodeo arena and a historic workhouse).

This event will be a conference made by farmers, for farmers. It offers an opportunity to be amongst a farming community that has respect for the land they work upon and feed our nation off of. It will have farmers and industry experts speaking on a variety of topics including cover crops, conservation grants, succession planning, new agricultural tech, integrated pest management, regional breakouts to help farmers meet their neighbors, and more! Many experts and organizations will be tabling with information on how to implement sustainable practices on the farm or start transitioning towards organic certification.

With the theme of ‘Back to Our Roots’, we are aiming to get the Original Organic Growers to be our keynote speakers. These are some of Idaho’s farmers who helped set up organic farming in the 1990’s and are still farming to this day. We hope their hard earned wisdom will help their peers and inspire the next generation of farmers who are hoping to spend decades having a caring relationship with the land.
